4 hour project

The four hour project was a nice break from our usual art projects. I liked this because we had a stronger voice in this project. One thing that was challenging was choosing what I was gonna do because I felt like I was left in the open water. My sculpture came out pretty well but one thing I could've done was try to add more ideas and more of me into it if I had more time or if I could redo it. At first I got off to a great start and made a ton of progress but then it became tougher for me and there was then less progress being made.

The book project where we are now!

On YOUR blog, DESCRIBE your original plans for The Book Project. What's the story you're trying to tell? Then write about how it's going...what challenges have you faced so far? What's going well? What isn't?
My original plans were to have the step mom kill the dad then the daughter gets mad, and then the step mom cashes in on selling the house and the life insurance. It's stayed at the same idea of the plot except I have trouble adding more stuff to fill the page. One thing that has been challenging is how I can make the story flow smoothly.

Drawing the human figure from the inside out

Drawing the Human Figure From the Inside Out.
Today you made a series of drawings of the human figure. In your own words, describe what the goals for today's drawings were. How well did you achieve these goals? Give specific examples from your process and/or from the finished drawing. You might even describe what challenges you faced.
The goals for today were to try to continuasly without the charcoal leave the page. One of my drawings came out well because in the begginning i used the cirular technique and then filled in the details in my first picture. One challenge i faced was that I had just taken 38 milagrams of Benadryl. And I was very tired also I struggled on getting the facial features right.

Nighthawk

Nighthawks
by Edward Hopper, Edward Hopper is from America.
Made in 1942
Oil on canvas was used to make the work.

My first impression of this picture was that it was bland and kinda of boring. But when I started to look and think of it more it started to remind me of the movie Watchmen for some reason. Also I like how the artist did the diner seen yet had the rest of the canvas black night. I think it would've been cooler if the artist had've put like one person standing in the darkness that would've added a kind of spooky alure.

Edward Hopper was trained to be an illustrator but spent five years studying painting which influenced his style to become about urban isolation. He made this painting to show a diner and three customers that are all in their own private thoughts. Without even knowing it Hopper actually painted the loneliness of a large city.
I believe that there is no balance in this picture because the lighted side seems to be outweighing the darker side. Also there is emphasis on the lighted side because that is where the people are which draws your eye to it. Which is emphasis by position, contrast, and grouping.

Reflecting on found object sculpture

The object that inspired me the most was the green circular disk because of the shape and how I was trying to make something else like a disk player. Then I took the circuit board and that reminded me of a backing of something, So then I realized I could make toilet out of these objects. One thing that helped about our discussion is that I should try to put something in the next sculpture with out using hot glue. I feel that my project went well over all. Except for the backing of the toilet which I used as a telephone shell but other wise I thought it was good.

The principles if design- set of rules that help artist organize shapes, lines, forms, and colors.

Unity-is the feeling that all the elements in a work belong together.

Variety is achieved when by introducing some differences into the picture to increase visual interest.

Balance is when the visual weight of an artwork feels equally distributed.

These are the 4 types of Balance:

1.Symmetry-when you draw a line down the middle of a picture the two sides are the same.

2.Approximately symmetrical-When they are almost symmetrical

3.asymmetry- the opposite of symmetry

4. radial-is when you draw a line any where divided it will always be the same.

Emphasis-When one element in an artwork appears to be

Placement-The thoughtful placement such as where the artist want to focus it.

contrast-When something is very different around.

Grouping-When the artist puts alot of little elements and put them right around the thing they want you to focus on.

Proportion in art we are talking about the size relationship of the parts to one another or to the whole.
